I offer neither commentary nor opionions on this news story.  Instead, I will state only the facts:  a rumor got started that a Koran was "desecrated" in a Christian village so a mob attacked them, burning 6 people to death, including one child.  A subsequent investigation found no evidence of any desecreated Koran.

You, the reader, may now reach your own conclusions based on the facts after reading the full news story for yourself.

Here's my question --- if they didn't want to have their mosque -- which is 2 blocks from Ground Zero -- connected by Americans to the 9/11 attacks -- then WHY did they select 9/11/11 as their "opening" date?  The 10 year anniversary of the attacks.  10 years is a significant number, and they claim they can't understand why people would make a connection?  SERIOUSLY???

I personally think this was all done intentionally.  Someone intentionally chose that spot and someone intentionally picked the 10 year anniversary as the opening date KNOWING full well it would cause a firestorm and outrage so they could sit around and say "Look, those Americans are racist and hate us".

My sentiments exactly, Harley.  The location and opening date were chosen with an agenda in mind.  As I noted earlier, if the mosque is not built the extremists will say "America is continuing their war against Islam" and if it is built then they will say "America is weak--now is the time to continue the pressure against them".  They will still hate us no matter what we do.

As for the book burning -- just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean you should do it.  That so called priest and his followers are idiots, plain and simple.

I don't see building a mosque/community center in the same light as burning korans.  Just as I don't judge Christians based on my experiences with a select few, I don't judge Muslims based on what I hear in the news, when I bother to watch the news.  The news is kind of like the internet, you can get the spin on any situation you want to have, if you just change to the right channel.

There are poor samples of every religion. This includes mine, so many times people think they need to be the judge, jury & executioner when something offends their sensibilities.
(I have done that as well  embarassed)

The sad part is that because Christians are still one of the few persons you can openly make a mark out of with out backlash, then this will be blown out of proportion.

I try to remember "What examples do we have of good behavior for Christians" ( think that one through)

 rainyday

http://cbs11tv.com/local/North.Texas.Weather.2.1901705.html

You would think it never rains with all of the problems created the last couple of days. Of course traffic has been even more  banghead with all of the wrecks. Seriously why do people still try to drive 80 MPH & swerve in& out of traffic when it is a down pour?
